Ina Gardner is author of numerous well-known American cookbooks on cooking. Ina also hosts Barefoot Contessa on Food Network. The show began in 2002. Ina Garten began her career as a journalist at the White House where she wrote nuclear energy policies and budget documents. In the beginning, she was enthralled by the intellectual rigors of her job, but soon began to lose interest. Instead she bought Barefoot Contessa, a specialty food shop. She spent eighteen years making the shop extremely popular before selling it off and grabbing a pen to begin writing her first book. Several other books and newspaper articles were published.
